NHL Player Sean Avery Supports Gay Hockey Players

Hockey star Sean Avery has come out in support of any gay hockey players.

“If there’s a kid in Canada or wherever, who is playing and really loves the game and wants to keep playing but he’s worried about coming out, I’d tell him to pick up the phone and call [NHLPA executive director] Donald Fehr and tell him to book me a [plane] ticket… I’ll stand beside him in the dressing room while he tells his teammates he is gay. Maybe if Sean Avery is there, they would have less of a problem with it.”

Wikipedia wants to delete Brendan Burke Article

Apparently coming out as gay in the hockey world, having Brian Burke as your father, and then meeting an untimely death at a young age only shortly after coming out publicly doesn’t make one notable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Brendan_Burke.

I would beg to differ as he was a trailblazer for queer people not just involved in hockey but involved in sport in North America.

I am surprise wiki is actually considering removing him. The article can be seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Burke
